Our Beliefs
Quite frankly, it is a bit “risky” for us to outline our beliefs & theology because Christians and non-Christians often look for reasons to divide or disagree. “Christianity” can have a widely variable definition in culture, and even within Christianity. Some topics we can agree to disagree on, others are a matter of sound, Bible-based theology.
We appreciate people may want to know more about what “Christianity” means to us. As we state throughout our website… our desire to honor Jesus and your marriage is more important to us than making money.
On Marriage & Sex
Marriage is a covenantal relationship instituted by God that is between a man and a woman and provides the foundation for a family. Sexual activity is to only be practiced within a lifelong, covenantal, monogamous, heterosexual marriage.
Foundational Scripture: Genesis 2:23-24, Matthew 19:6, 1 Corinthians 6:9-20, Ephesians 5:22-33
Genesis 2:23-24. “At last!” the man exclaimed. “This one is bone from my bone, and flesh from my flesh! She will be called ‘woman,’ because she was taken from ‘man.’” This explains why a man leaves his father and mother and is joined to his wife, and the two are united into one.”
We Believe…
GOD. We believe there is only one true God, who eternally exists as a Trinity: the Father, Son (Jesus Christ) and the Holy Spirit. Each is separate and equally God, sharing all the divine attributes.
JESUS CHRIST is God’s Son who was sent to the earth by the Father for the redemption of all mankind. He added flesh and humanity to his divinity when he lived on Earth as fully God and fully human at the same time. While on the earth, Jesus did many miracles and shared the news of salvation wherever He went. Jesus became the ultimate sacrifice for the sins of everyone who ever walked the earth and everyone who will ever walk the earth by dying a barbaric and gruesome death on a cross.
THE RESURRECTION. After Jesus was nailed to the cross, took on the sins of the world, and died, he was put in a tomb which was guarded by Roman soldiers. After being in the tomb for three days, Jesus rose from the dead. He then spent time on the earth showing himself to his followers as the resurrected Lord. Jesus then rose up into the sky where he now lives with God the Father.
SALVATION is the gift that Jesus Christ extended to us. It is by grace alone through faith alone in Jesus Christ alone. We are all sinners desperately in need of a Savior. Jesus Christ offers to save each of us from being eternally separated from God’s goodness and presence if we choose to believe that he is God’s Son and invite him to become Lord of our lives.
THE BIBLE is the divinely inspired, eternal, finished Word of God. It is the highest doctrinal authority. It is still applicable today, and as Christians, we use it to direct our lives and bring us closer to God.
The Story of Jesus Christ
Jesus Christ is God’s Son who left heaven, came to earth, and became a living testimony of the love of God. Jesus was born of a virgin named Mary who was chosen by God to give birth to the Messiah. Jesus lived a perfect life, but was tempted in every way possible so that he might relate to us. He knows everything that you are going through because he experienced the same things. Jesus also healed the sick, helped the lame to walk, made the blind see, and the deaf hear. He was loving and selfless, the ultimate servant, caring only about helping those around him.
When his time on earth was over, Jesus was whipped, beaten, laughed at, persecuted, and nailed to a cross. The good news is that he rose from the dead three days later. This was all a part of God’s plan to save the world from sin. Jesus became the ultimate sacrifice in order that we might be saved from our sins and spend eternal life in heaven with God. All we have to do is believe that Jesus is God’s Son, that he died for our sins, that he rose from the dead. Once we ask God to be the ruler of our lives we become his children forever. It says in the Bible:
“… If you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Jesus from the dead, you shall be saved; for with the heart man believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation.” Romans 10:9-10
Regardless of your choices, Jesus came to save you from a life of destruction. You don’t have to be perfect before you can accept Jesus as your Lord. You just have to be willing to let God change you and make you more like him.
“God demonstrates His own love for us, in that while we were still sinners Christ died for us!” Romans 5:8
